Though Gainesville is considered a pretty small town in Texas, there are quite a bit of attractions to appreciate. For example, there is the Frank Buck Zoo and Leonard Park where students can take a break from their studies and enjoy the company of animals and nature.

Housing

There are two residence halls on campus for students to stay in: Hays Hall and Bonner Hall. If you are looking for a traditional dorm experience, Bonner Hall would be the better choice as it features double occupancy rooms for students, community bathrooms, and male and female wings separated by a common area. There is a kitchen, TV lounges, a study room, and laundry facilities for students to use. Hays Hall is a suite-style facility accommodating 30 students in a two-story structure. There are six 4-student suites and two 3-student suites. There are two bedrooms in each suite accommodating up to two students each. These students share a common area and bathroom.

Students looking to live on campus will be required to purchase a Meal Plan on campus. The total charges to live in Bonner Hall is $2,261. It costs $2,361 to live in Hays Hall. The charges can be paid out for the entire semester, or in installments at a slightly higher rate per month.

There are plenty of off-campus housing options that are super close to campus worth considering as well. Many students seek these after their freshman year to get a taste of what real-life apartment living is like. New listings pop up everyday, and different apartments, rooms, condos, and homes will offer different amenities at varying rates.

Faculty Senate Scholarship & William E. Culp Math & Science Scholarship

  • Offered in fall and spring
  • Students must be enrolled and complete at least 12 hours of college work at NCTC
  • Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • All applicants must have an official copy of their transcript and two recommendation letters

Mary Josephine Cox Scholarship

  • Awarded based on special need
  • Must have 3.0 GPA
  • Must be under 21 years old
  • Must be a graduate of a Cooke County High School, or parents must own property in Cooke County
  • Offered in fall and spring for full-time students
  • Awards are $100
  • Students must be full-time status
  • Award can be renewed for 5 consecutive semesters
